Named outputs

Give a shader more than one output.

A shader has one main output, but it can offer more: a shape can also give its distance, an effect its mask. Add a Named output node, connect a value and give it a name.

As a node

When your shader is used as a node, each named output becomes an extra output on it.

Inputs and outputs share names, so they can't repeat. output and the single letters x y z w r g b are reserved.

Inside a Repeat, connect the Repeat end to a named output, not a value from inside the loop.

In an embed

Pick an output with output, or choose one in the editor's Embed dialog:

<Shader id="9f3c7b21-4d8e-4a10-9f2b-7c6d5e4f3a21" output="mask" />

If the name doesn't exist, the embed shows the main output and logs a warning.
